How to Share a Razorpay Payment Link

After payment onboarding is active, generate a pay link on the invoice and copy it. The customer pays the remaining balance. You can still record cash or bank payments yourself.

Step 1

Finish payment onboarding first

A pay link is created only when payment onboarding is active. If generate fails with payment onboarding is not active, open Organization settings, Payment onboarding, and complete activation. Then return to the invoice.

Step 2

Open an invoice with a balance due

Open the invoice from Invoices. The link collects the balance still due. Cancelled invoices and invoices with nothing left to pay do not show a customer payment link.

Step 3

Generate the pay link

Open More and choose Generate pay link. When a link already exists, the same menu says Regenerate pay link. Success shows a Customer payment link panel: share this Razorpay link so the customer can pay the balance due online.

Step 4

Copy and send the link

Click Copy link and send it to the customer. Sending or resending the invoice email can include the link when onboarding is active. If email goes out without a link, use Copy link from the invoice. Recording a payment or marking the invoice paid is separate. Use those when the customer pays you directly instead of through Razorpay.

Common questions

Why can I not generate a payment link?

The usual reason is that payment onboarding is not active. Complete it under Organization settings, Payment onboarding. The invoice also needs a balance due and must not be cancelled.

Does the payment link charge the full invoice again?

No. The link is for the balance due on that invoice. Amounts you already recorded reduce what the customer still has to pay.

Should I use a payment link or Record payment?

Use the Razorpay link when the customer should pay online. Use Record payment or Mark paid when you received cash, a bank transfer, or another payment outside Razorpay and need to enter it yourself.

Expected outcomes

  • A Razorpay payment link exists for the balance due
  • The link can be copied and shared with the customer
